Class Schedule & Learning Outcomes

  • How to build and teach a trauma-informed yoga class, including:

  • The effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress.

  • Creating a safe space for your students.

  • Using “invitational language” and “the language of inquiry.”

  • Understanding and managing potential triggers.

  • The teaching tools for self-regulation.

  • How to create a strengths-based practice for your students, including:

  • Definitions & key components.

  • Boundaries and self-care.

  • Equality, marginalization, and privilege.

  • About teaching in Service Yoga Settings, including:

  • What to expect: rapport, mandates, and responsibilities.

  • Opportunities for practicum, volunteer placement, and ongoing mentorship.

Training Schedule
Friday 5:15pm – 8:30pm
Saturday 8:30am – 5:30pm
Sunday 8:30am – 5:30pm

Work-study Option for up to 50% off tuition
Work-study involves a trade in labour in exchange for up to 1/2 off the cost of the training. Please complete our online form. Applications must be completed 1 month prior to the training in order to allow adequate time to complete volunteer hours prior to attendance.

Refund Policy
Training tuition is refundable, less a 15% administration fee, up to 21 days prior to the training start date. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing via training@yogaoutreach.com to receive a refund. No refunds will be issued within the 21 days prior and fees is non-transferable.

HM 500hr Yoga Teacher Training - STARTING SEPTEMBER 2019

Saturday's and Sunday's (8am - 6pm)

Friday evenings (6pm – 9pm)

** additional hours required in the form of a weekend retreat and workshops

(may be subject to minor changes)


Program Outline - What you can expect to learn

Anatomy and Physiology:

  • Bodily systems, organs and tissues

  • Bones, muscles, joints and energy systems

  • Bio-tensegrity Paradigm and the fascial systems as related to yoga

  • Anatomy and physiology principles of yoga

Teaching Methodology:

  • How to address specific needs(multi-level classes, etc)

  • Teaching to Special populations (pre-natal, children, etc)

  • Structuring of class and lesson plans

  • Time management of class

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: 

  • Study of traditional text (Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Upanishads)

  • Lifestyles and principals of Yoga based on Yamas and Niyamas, etc.

  • Ethics, privacy and the role of the yoga teacher

  • Serving in a yogic role (Seva teaching and giving back)

Techniques, Training and Practice:

  • Practice and review of proper alignment of Asana and the standard postures

  • Practice and review of Pranayama, Kriya, Chanting, Mantra, Meditation and Mudra

  • Modifications of postures for body types, contraindications, etc.

  • Proper alignment what to look for in teaching and practicing


  • In class teaching both lead and assisting

  • Discussion on feedback and observations of a class

  • Independent teaching within studio under mentorship

Please Note:  Any student is welcome to take the 500-Hour level course to further their own practice or personal development. You do not need to make a decision about whether or not you want to teach before you begin the training.
